First donations to Nepal

Our ambassador Billi Bierling just came back from Phase Nepal (in Kathmandu) and had a very interesting meeting with the team to discuss the various options for the Himalayan Development Foundation Australia to help in the rebuild of Nepal.

Our first donation of $20,000 has been allocated to their emergency relief fund and was used to distribute tarps and rice to villages Phase is looking after in Sindhupalchowk and Gorkha districts. Another $10,000 has been forwarded to the World Food Program. Read the latest report by WFP

The next steps to help Nepal will focus around rebuilding the more than 25,000 schools and health posts that have been badly damaged. This one in Muchhuk in Gorkha district only has its door intact after it collapsed on 25 April, killing four teachers taking part in a training.
