We'd like to share these recent words of thanks from Sarita*, the brave young woman we featured in our recent Christmas appeal
The earthquake was catastrophic for everyone and more for me. I lost my husband leaving only me and my infant daughter. It was very difficult for me to lead life with scarcity and trauma as the family has lost breadwinner. I even thought of going to India for labour jobs as I had done as a young girl before.
After the project selected me as a member of the agriculture group my life changed. I started taking part in several social meeting and agriculture training. I started producing my own vegetables with the technical support of the project who provided me trainings, plastic green house, seeds and follow up support. With the new kitchen garden, I have enough vegetable to eat and sell.
With the project's support I have started to think good about myself, my self-esteem has risen and I am confident that I can lead my life myself. In additional to doing farm activities I am also looking after my mother. Whenever we are ill, we go the project supported clinic.
The project staff are very friendly, like family. I thank them for helping me lead a self reliant life.
